Generation Graveyard

Living your music takes a lot of skill if you’re a band that combine hardcore, metal and punk.  You have to drink hard, play hard and even play your songs.  The songs have to sound dominating live and equally speaker tormenting.  Generation Graveyard have all of this.  Not only are Generation Graveyard finishing the mixing and recording of their new record, they’re also playing shows with local boys Artemis Redeemer and the mighty 69 Eyes.

Track three on the new record, The Empty gives you no time to prepare.  Pounding drums and a riff that sounds more like a call to arms come at you instantly before you’ve even taken your finger back off the play button.  This storm of sound is added to by dark and snarling vocals.  Starting with the command ‘Come on’ they mirror the tracks tone perfectly.  Swept along by The Empty Generation Graveyard fill you with a sense of contempt towards daily monotony and entrapment.  You’ll feel angry.  Angry enough to break the spell and get on it.  As the track rolls into its last minute an increased sense of energy and intensity takes over before The Empty winds to a close.

Generation Graveyard

Generation Graveyard explore the punk side of their nature with Deleatist.  Sounding like a sonic punch to the face Deletist has a frantic and desperate determination to it.  Alongside ADHD based drumming and a cutting riff the vocals charge down your ears on a sea of distortion urgency.  As the chant of ‘Deleatist‘ goes up it is clear this track will smash venues and radicalise audiences.  Deleatist drives the listener to rise up and be free and fills them fury and energy, to y’know just help it along.  This isn’t a song to just hear.  Deleatist makes the listener an active and empowered participant.  At it’s core it is build on integrity and values.  Get Deleatist now from Generation Graveyard’s Bandcamp.

Generation Graveyard make music to react to.  Driven by core values these songs are the work of a band with a purpose.  The fusion of styles gives Generation Graveyard’s music even more appeal.  Watch Generation Graveyard.  They are producing music that not only sounds interesting and has a purpose, but needs to be heard because it’s just good!  Click the link to GIGgle Pics to see more information and photos from a recent Canterbury gig.

Dakota Ruins Are Coming

Dakota Ruins

The state of Dakota lies in ruins, and the culprits are on their way here.  Only kidding, Dakota is fine.  Causing fear and paranoia by using the media, I mean who would do that.  Six individuals under the name of Dakota Ruins are on their way here however, but hopefully you’ll like it.

Dakota Ruins are a metalcore six piece from Worcestershire.  They have a wide range of influences covering Kill Switch Engage, Bring Me The Horison and even Young Guns.  Dakota Ruins are supported in their quest to conquer the nation’s ear drums by Dry Ice Promotions and Etych Bodyart .  They’ve even played with local lads Artemis Redeemer, who recently gigged with the band at The Unicorn in London.  With this support Dakota Ruins aim to bring their own brand of metalcore to a place near you.

Dakota Ruins’ brand of metalcore is like a house party drinking mix without the bad taste or risk of internal melting.  Tracks from their debut album such as Respawn bring together their influences but also show their own creativity.  Respawn pounds forward with a foreboding tone.  The vocals go from dark growls all the way through to clean vocals, giving Dakota Ruins intensity and sincerity.  Underneath this the powerful riffs and ear catching effects help to keep you more hooked as the track drives on than a teenager that’s just discovered porn.

Dakota Ruins1

Making these tracks work live is important to Dakota Ruins, and the live experience is a kinetic one.  They believe in doing their music and crowds justice on stage with a big stage presence.  There’s a high chance you’ll feel moved.  You won’t laugh or cry, but you will bounce around a mosh pit.  See Dakota Ruins for yourself in June, they’ll be playing Ashford, Canterbury and Folkestone.

Get your ears around this band!  Visit their Bandcamp for a free download to tempt you and visit their Facebook to hear even more music.

Mistiksin, After the Enclave, Escape the Ocean and Insult at The Bar Below, Folkestone : 12/01/2013

Well that happened. This is the only way to describe what happened Saturday night at The Bar Below, Folkestone.  The Below the Radar gig started with angry punk and ended with a performance from  Bat Girl.  It was as much a spectacle as it was dominated by big sounds across a range of genres.

The night began with Insult.  The Fokestone based punk band, something they were keen to deny, started the night in a frenzy of noise, aggression and attitude.  After a strong 2012 Insult’s sound and presence were at new heights.  Happily for their first gig of 2013 this meant nothing but make the band better at being raw, raucous and in your face.  Something that those new to Insult in the crowd fully understood. Josh Battams and Jak Colins sharing the role of front man and getting right into the crowd.  As well as live favourites such as The Old Bill, Insult played newer songs such as one dedicated to Folkestone’s homeless.  Insult played an energetic set, entertaining people whilst also giving their brains something to munch on.  The set even featured reluctant guest vocals from The Half-Wits’ Konrad Harris.

Insult

Escape the Ocean took to the stage next.  Starting in a cloud of distortion, they left the crowd hanging until guitars climbed out the storm of sounds.  Joined by the rest of the band the thing that struck you first, especially your ears, was the power of front man Lee Morrison’s voice.  Even as Lee Morrison hung back from the mic like the moon orbiting the earth his voice powered out the P.A.  The whole band played a tight set, delivering their songs in a strong and accomplished way – aided by some special facial expressions.  Driven forward by powerful drumming, this continuously threw out exciting moments.  Another band on form, Escape the Ocean are a band to see in 2013.

Escape the Ocean

Keeping the momentum, After the Enclave claimed the stage next.  Their first gig of the new year, they didn’t hold back.  Bringing their heavy sound to the small basement bar they filled the room with riffs and dominating vocals.  As After the Enclave brought track after track to the audience they carried across a Disturbed vibe, the band – not people needing help, which is never a bad thing.  The band impressed as they played tracks such as their signature song Crucified.  Good crowd interaction made After the Enclave the devil on everyone’s shoulder, tempting them into a cheeky head bang.  Coming at people like a shark with knees the out of town band are a strong live band!

After the Enclave

After over a year since their last gig, Mistiksin finally reached the stage.  An all star line-up took to the stage.  First up was a six foot something Bat  Girl, followed by Ryu from Street Fighter.  The line-up was completed by a drumming skeleton, Batman and …. a sailor.  After a few jokes the music started.  Something tells me these weren’t the original characters however.  The expectant crowd was treated to some big metal as it screamed across the room.  The crowd approved, starting a mosh pit.  Playing strong originals like Unleash the Beast it was clear Mistiksin had been missed.  You also wouldn’t have been able to tell it was new guitarist Nick Price’s first gig with the band.  Alongside originals were strong covers of Killing in the Name and a destructive cover of Let The Bodies Hit the Floor.  The band put on a show, with Bat Girl aka vocalist Andrew Lawence singing from the bar and a sofa.  As the show came to an end a beer keg emerged.  This then got smashed by the band and crowd alike ringing across the room and bringing the gig to a close.

18/12/2012: Then The Wave Came – This Will Not End Well (For You)

thenthewavecame1

I don’t know about you but all this super sweet and cheery Christmas music does our nuts in.  So for this weeks free download we bring you some deathcore, you know just to re-address the balance.

Then The Wave Came are a relentlessly heavy and pounding band that will take your ears hostage and make so many loud noises you’ll forget what silence is.  Just like all kidnappings though you’ll get Stockholm Syndrome.  This Will Not End Well (For You) is driving behemoth of a track.  Starting with a foreboding but light riff the energy builds and builds closer to a thunderstorm of noise.  As this storm breaks Then The Wave Came reveal their true colours.  Riffs and drumbeats smash hurl around your brain as other worldly vocals convey a dark and angry place.  This Will Not End Well (For You) is the perfect antidote to Christmas music.  Get it here and let every bad Christmas track you’ve heard 5oo million times just slip away.

Then The Wave Came also have two other tracks available if that wasn’t enough.
